MOON

Collaboration with Ben Busche

Moon is a Christmas lighting installation specifically designed for the Gran Via in Madrid. It was created by the german architect Ben Busche and manufactured by Ilmex, premiering during the Christmas season of 2014. A total of 31 different illuminated motifs that, when viewed as a whole, create a cinematic illusion of animated images. This effect is achieved as spectators move along the street.

Instead of the typical Christmas lighting, Ben Busche designed an installation that changes at each point of the journey and is only fully perceived over time and through movement, symbolizing a journey to the Moon. Thus, as one traversed Gran Vía in Madrid, the sequence of motifs produced an optical effect of approaching or receding from the Moon.
